Suhan currently acts as the lawyer for the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh, multiple U.S. based corporations, leading oil and gas corporations in Singapore, UAE and Bangladesh, major insurance underwriters in Malaysia and Hong Kong as well as the largest group of companies of Bangladesh. His law firm also works in close collaboration with top tier international law firms headquartered in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and India. Notably, Suhan also acted as the International Legal Consultant for multiple organizations based in the United States wherein he had worked with a team of highly experienced American attorneys.
Suhan has mostly practiced in the country’s upper judiciary and represents his clients frequently before the arbitration bench, admiralty bench, company court and constitutional courts of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, High Court Division.
Beyond the boundaries of courthouse, Suhan advises his client’s on complex regulatory issues, internal legal & compliance issues, domestic and cross-border joint ventures & collaborations as well as mergers, foreign direct investment & NGO registration, corporate restructuring and transactional affairs. Suhan has helped foreign investors set up businesses in Bangladesh, open and maintain Branch Offices in the territory. He has also assisted international and local corporations to successfully partake in tenders and advised them on the legal aspects of public procurement and Private Public Partnerships in Bangladesh. Suhan’s tactical and strategic acumen coupled with his excellent communication skills also enable him to seal the deal for his clients by leading from the front during negotiations and dispute resolutions.
In his role as the head of Corporate Legal Solutions Department of Accord Chambers, Suhan is acting as the lead counsel for the first and only private sector oil refinery project in Bangladesh since 1961 involving USD 1.2 Billion which is the highest value project in the private sector history of Bangladesh and involves multiple jurisdictions e.g. China, France, Bangladesh, Czech Republic and the U.S.A. It is also the subject matter of the largest syndicated loan arrangement in the banking sector of Bangladesh involving 24 public and private banks.
Further work highlights of Suhan includes the following:
-Negotiated and concluded contract valued at USD 450 million on behalf of leading oil and gas company.
-Represented an American corporation in the acquisition of a Bangladeshi company.
-Drafted and negotiated sophisticated technology and equipment supply contract valued at USD 17 million between one of the largest cement industries of Bangladesh and a Dutch supplier of equipment and services to the global cement and minerals industries.
-Acted as legal counsel for global oil enterprises, agricultural goods merchants and leading commodities and raw cotton suppliers in numerous litigations against Bangladeshi buyers for the successful enforcement of multitude of foreign arbitral awards resulting from international commercial arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Association (FOSFA), International Cotton Association (ICA), Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC) etc.
-Successfully represented foreign vessels, owners of vessels, cargo owners, insurers and P&I Clubs in litigations before the Admiralty court of Bangladesh in conjunction with claims for freight, demurrage and damages for collision at sea and port. Also secured arrests and release of vessels from detention.
-Represents the largest private sector group of conglomerates of Bangladesh and has negotiated as well as drafted numerous highly complex cross-border contracts and facilitated high value cross-border transactions. Considered as an expert on cross-border Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) turnkey contracts and equipment supply contracts with deep rooted practical experience of working within the relevant FIDIC and ICC legal framework.
-Represented a local business group in the take-over of a private sector power plant project.
-Currently representing as the legal counsel instructed by leading oil corporation based in Singapore and its insurance underwriters based in Malaysia in a high value crude palm olein misappropriation litigation.
-Advised Joint Venture consortiums on high value Private Public Partnership (PPP) Projects and BOOT model and represented JV entities before Governmental authorities, partook in contract negotiations and the drafting & finalisation of project agreements. PPPs involved with include construction contract, power generation & distribution and renewable energy sector.
Suhan is a legal expert for the jurisdiction of Bangladesh. Suhan also has comprehensive understanding of English law being a Barrister called to the Bar of England & Wales.
Suhan Khan was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister-at-law in the year 2009. He was enrolled as an Advocate of the Bangladesh Bar Council the following year in 2010 and was later elevated to the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, High Court Division in the year 2013. Suhan has been practicing as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh since 2013 and is now the Managing Partner of Accord Chambers, one of the leading corporate law firms of Bangladesh.
Suhan acted as the International Legal Consultant for multiple organizations based in the United States, namely East-West Center, which was established by the U.S. Congress, and the Berkeley War Crimes Studies Center of the University of California Berkeley, wherein he worked with a team of highly experienced American attorneys. Upon his return to Bangladesh, Suhan had a flying start of his legal practice at Rokanuddin Mahmud & Associates where he worked as a junior counsel under Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud. Thereafter he joined A Hossain & Associates in its Dhaka Office in a key role where he had the privilege of working under direct guidance and supervision of Barrister Ajmalul Hossain QC, the first Queen's Counsel of Bangladeshi origin and a veteran lawyer in dispute resolution.
Subsequently, Suhan started his own practice in the jurisdiction of Bangladesh and co-founded Accord Chambers where he now heads the Corporate Legal Solutions Department.
He is a fluent English speaker with full operational command of the language and is also a native speaker of Bangla.

Suhan was a veteran debater and received awards as the Best Speaker for consecutive years in leading national debate competitions during his early academic career. He acted as the president of debating association of his school and later as a coach for debating and public speaking for young adults. Suhan is also passionate about teaching and taught Common Law Reasoning & Institutions (also known as English Legal System), law of tort and law of trust as a part-time lecturer at the London College of Legal Studies, an affiliate center of the University of London.
Suhan's wife is also a lawyer called to the Bar of England & Wales as a Barrister. They are parents to a beautiful daughter. Suhan loves to travel across the globe with his family at every opportunity.
