Steven Goldberg

Steven has more than 25 years of strategic communications experience with particular expertise in legal and regulatory matters. He frequently advises clients facing white collar and civil litigation,

government investigations, and financial restructurings. As a former corporate attorney, Steven has highly specialized skills enabling him to develop communications strategies that balance reputational and legal objectives, and he understands the value of gathering facts, anticipating issues, and applying a holistic approach to communications strategy. Steven often acts as a media spokesperson and has represented clients involved in several of the most high-profile civil and criminal legal matters of the last two decades, including one of the most high-profile and influential Supreme Court cases of the last term which was decided in favor of our client, a prominent news anchor on legal and reputational issues resulting from his termination, an NFL team on various legal and reputational issues, including a Congressional investigation, a major talent agency in connection with a litigation matter, a professional sports league on media strategy and reputational issues relating to the negotiation of a new collective bargaining agreement, and the former Chief Legal Officer of a Fortune 500 company on the defense of FCPA charges brought by the Department of Justice and their ultimate dismissal.

Prior to co-founding August, Steven served as the co-head of Sard Verbinnen’s (now FGS Global) Los Angeles office. Before that, he was a partner at Finsbury, where he helped start and grow the firm’s New York office, and a Member of the Firm at Sitrick and Company in New York. Steven began his legal career as an Associate in the financial restructuring group at Kaye Scholer LLP in New York.

Steven has guest lectured on crisis communications at Pepperdine University. He spoke about litigation and crisis communications in an episode of the international Superception podcast and presented on crisis communications for the AspenMastermind group.
