Stephen has a wide-ranging practice covering all aspects of property litigation, including insolvency, professional negligence and partnership disputes. He has considerable experience of leading in heavy cases turning on valuation issues or difficult questions of law.
He has appeared 8 times in the Supreme Court/House of Lords/Privy Council, on appeals raising issues including human rights, restrictive covenants, service charges, the Landlord and Tenant Act 1995, enfranchisement, adverse possession, unregistered title and fixtures. He was the winner of Real Estate Silk of the Year at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2021.
Stephen qualified as a solicitor in 1987 and was called to the Bar in 1989. Since completing pupillage he has practised at Falcon Chambers, where he has been joint Head of Chambers since 2017. He took silk in 2009. He is a Deputy High Court Judge, a Civil Recorder and a Judge of the Land Registration Division of the First-tier Tribunal.
