Søren C. S. Andersen is a Partner with the Danish law firm Accura, where he heads the firm’s Tier 1 IP & Life Science Team. He is ranked by Chambers Global, amongst the Next Generation Partners recognised by Legal 500 and is in the Silver Band for individuals for Patent Litigation in the AIM Patent 1000 rankings. He is admitted to practice in Denmark and has right of audience before the Danish Supreme Court.
Søren has approx. 20 years of experience advising on all subjects within IP and other matters of particular relevance to businesses within Life Science and other regulated industries, in particular pharmaceutical / medicinal regulatory law and the regulation applicable to the various branches of the greater pharmaceutical and biotech industries, such as e.g. ethical rules, rules on advertisements, the distribution and sale of pharmaceuticals and various novel therapeutic methods.
Søren has solid experience as a patent litigator, having taken part in many of the most significant cases in that area. Some of the cases he has litigated has broken new ground in Danish jurisprudence, including by finding for the first time the existence of a right of prior use and by finding, also for the first time, litigated patents and utility models invalid in the context of PI proceedings before the Danish courts.
His field of expertise also extends to drafting and advising on contracts relating to e.g. IP and regulatory matters. Søren’s extensive teaching experience includes a position as an Associate Professor of Intellectual Property Law with Copenhagen Business School.
After substantial growth in the most recent years within several practice areas, including IP & Life Science, Accura is in the top 5 of commercial Danish law firms measured on both turnover and number of fee-earners.
Driven by a distinctly commercial mindset, Accura’s focus is purely on the private sector and its core is within transactions and major projects and within providing advice on commercially significant areas of law to businesses in highly regulated or otherwise complex business environments – including by providing these businesses with representation in disputes.
