Shantona is a versatile litigator with particular expertise in appellate litigation and complex disputes. Her practice includes commercial litigation, class actions, torts, professional negligence, professional discipline, administrative, constitutional, and public international law. She has been counsel in over 55 reported decisions, including 30+ cases at Ontario Court of Appeal. She represents both individual and institutional clients at all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, and administrative tribunals. She has been appointed amicus curiae by both the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
Shantona is listed in the Canadian Lexpert Directory, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation (Litigation Star and Top 50 Women in Litigation). She is the co-Executive Director of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute. Shantona clerked for the Justice Binnie at the SCC (2006-2007). She obtained a B.C.L/LL.B from McGill, in 2005, and a B.C.L from Oxford in 2009. A Montréal native, Shantona is fluently bilingual and is called to the bar in both Ontario and Québec.
