Practice Areas
Shantona is a versatile litigator whose practice includes commercial litigation, class actions, torts, professional negligence, professional discipline, administrative, constitutional, public international, and national security law. She is an experienced appellate counsel, having acted in over 40 appeals at the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. She also maintains an active first instance practice before the Superior Court and administrative tribunals. She acts for both private and public sector clients.
Career
Shantona is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, and is listed in Lexpert, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation (Litigation Star and Top 50 Women in Litigation). She is the co-Executive Director of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute, and co-chair of The Advocates’ Society’s Appellate Advocacy Practice Group. Shantona clerked for the Justice Ian Binnie at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2006-2007. She speaks fluent French and is called to the bar in both Ontario and Québec.
