Career
Called 1998. Ruth is a specialist international child law barrister. She has extensive experience in the field of adoption law and is the go to lawyer for International adoptions. She is regularly instructed in the most complex care cases involving modern families, cross border/jurisdiction or complex medical issues.
In all her work, her ability to systematically unravel highly complex factual and legal frameworks and present her analysis with compelling clarity, logic and pragmatism has impressed clients and Judge’s alike.
Ruth never forgets that in every case that comes before the Family Court, there is at least one family in a state of crisis. The impact of the proceedings on the lives of the children and adults whose affairs are under scrutiny is often lifechanging, and always at the forefront of her mind. With effective communication skills, deployed with sensitivity and pragmatism, she ensures her clients understand the court process and their options within it, which is key to facilitating their full participation in the proceedings, so that the client’s voice is always heard. Although she has been described as fierce and robust in court, outside of the courtroom her ability to deliver sound advice straightforwardly and with empathy and understanding is valued by both lay and professional clients.
