Before founding his own law firm, Mr. Hardin spent more than 15 years as an assistant district attorney in Houston, Texas. He founded Texas People Against Crime, which is dedicated to addressing criminal justice issues as they relate to both crime victims and law enforcement. He was later named Chief Trial Counsel for the Whitewater Independent Counsel’s Office. In 1996, he established Rusty Hardin & Associates. Mr. Hardin has tried over 70 jury trials, split between civil and criminal cases. He’s counted clients such as ExxonMobil, Rice University, The Venetian Hotel/Las Vegas Sands, the Houston Texans, Rogers Clemens, and Scottie Pippen among those he’s worked with.
In 2015, Law360 named Mr. Hardin a “Trial Ace.” He was given a Lifetime Achievement award by Texas Lawyer, and named a “Lion of the Texas Bar” by Texas Lawbook. He has been inducted into both the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers. Before earning his law degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Hardin taught American history at Montgomery Academy in Montgomery, Alabama. He spent five years in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam for 15 months and earning the rank of Captain.
