Career
Roy Chan handles corporate and regulatory matters for insurance companies. He advises on insurance and trade related contentious work and represents multinational companies in investigations and compliance.
He also assists clients in insurance and commercial related disputes that involve litigation and arbitration in Hong Kong, China, the United States and Europe (in particular the United Kingdom).
Roy's experience extends to commercial matters involving mergers and acquisitions, the sale and purchase of ships, ship/asset financings and insurance contracts. He has assisted many major Chinese enterprises on their investments and corporate matters in China and overseas markets.
Roy advised Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China in respect of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs' investments in 1992, the first foreign investments in a Chinese insurance company.
Roy is managing partner of our office in Shanghai and was responsible for its opening in October 2002. Roy is named as a mediator under the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Arbitration Rules and an arbitrator of Shanghai International Arbitration Centre and Chinese European Arbitration Centre.
