Roland is the Global Co-Head of Linklaters’s international arbitration practice.

Roland has acted as counsel in a large number of international arbitration cases (UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, ICSID) and has represented and/or advised numerous states, state-owned and private companies (from Europe, the United States of America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia).

He is a member of the Paris, New York and Beirut Bars. Roland has over 20 years of experience in legal practice and handles proceedings in French, English and Arabic.

Roland also regularly acts as arbitrator in international arbitrations (UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, LCIA, Swiss Arbitration Centre, DIAC, DIFC–LCIA, AFA, CRCICA), having had over 50 appointments to date. Roland is one of the Directors of the Board of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). He is also the current President of the ICC-France Committee on the selection and appointment of arbitrators and served on the ICC Court of International Arbitration for nine years (2009-2018).

Roland is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA), the Bureau of the French Arbitration Committee (CFA), the Executive Committee of the Harvard Club of France, as well as various arbitral organizations and arbitration working groups. He teaches arbitration at University of Paris II-Assas, Versailles University as well as at Sciences Po and is the author of numerous publications and articles on international arbitration.

Roland is distinguished by Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, The International Who’s Who on Commercial Arbitration, as well as the Guide to the World's Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration for his experience and expertise in international arbitration. In 2017, Global Arbitration Review ranked him in the top three worldwide of partners below 45. In 2019, he was selected by Who’s Who Legal among the 10 leading and most highly regarded arbitration counsel and arbitrators and since 2020 among the top 15 Global Elite Thought Leaders in arbitration.
