Specialist in business and academic regulation of innovation and intellectual property; he has developed policies and regulations on intellectual property for the major universities and companies in Chile. He has won numerous legal actions on domain names, copyright, and patents.

He oversees the management of significant patent portfolios in Chile and globally and coordinates filings in multiple countries for companies, especially in the mining industry. Mr. Leon is a known business leader in the patent world, often sought for negotiations, reviewing and drafting a wide variety of agreements that involve technology transfer in its broadest terms. Mr. Leon is also looked to for his strength in strategy planning and as an expert negotiator in patent infringement cases both in civil and criminal venues.

Mr. Leon possesses unique experience in Chile with complex litigation cases regarding IP matters; he is pragmatic in his advice to clients and a motivational leader within the Silva team.

Mr. León is the author of several technical reports on IP for the Chilean government, the governments of the United States and Japan, and for French and Dutch jurisdictions.

He is a member of the French Association for the International Protection of Copyright, Inter-American Institute of Copyright, Chilean Association of Industrial Property (ACHIPI), Pharmaceutical Trademark Group and president of the Chilean Society of Licensing (LES Chile).

He is a dedicated civil law professor at the University Alberto Hurtado, where was elected three times as best professor of the Faculty. He is also a professor at the IP Master Program at Universidad Católica, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and the Universidad Finis Terrae.

He was invited by the U.S. State Department to participate in the "International Visitor Leadership Program" in Intellectual Property in 2012.

He served as an arbitrator of NIC Chile for assigning domain names ".CL" and is Vice President of the Foundation “Hacer Chile.”

A prolific author, he has written multiple articles and case studies on copyright, electronic trade, private international law and private law in general.

He is an attorney at law and graduated from Universidad de los Andes, Chile (1998). He studied for a Phd in IP law at Montpellier University with a focus in private law.
