Mr Rodrigo Garcia da Fonseca is admitted to practice in Brazil and is a founding partner of the law firm Fonseca e Salles Lima Advogados Associados, in Rio de Janeiro.
With more than 30 years of experience, Mr Rodrigo Garcia da Fonseca’s practice focuses on dispute resolution, including arbitration and court litigation. Over the years, Mr Fonseca has acted in several high-profile cases in various areas of business law, in Brazil and abroad. He acts both as counsel and arbitrator, in domestic and international proceedings under the rules of various institutions, as well as in ad hoc cases. He also has extensive experience in arbitration-related court litigation.

Personal
Mr Fonseca is the President of the Center of Arbitration and Mediation of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC), based in São Paulo, since 2023. He is also a member of the Award Scrutiny Commission of the Centro Internacional de Arbitraje de Madrid-Centro Iberoamericano de Arbitraje-CIAM-CIAR, since 2024, and a member of the ICC Latin American arbitration group and of the LCIA Latin American users’ council, as well as a member of the rosters of arbitrators of several institutions. He was one of the coordinators of the pro bono arbitration counsel programme providing legal assistance and representation before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ad hoc divisions during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and was certified by the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation to participate in dispute boards in contracts related to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Mr Fonseca was the chief editor of the Brazilian Journal of Arbitration and Mediation from 2004 to 2013. He is a frequent speaker in arbitration matters in conferences and seminars and was part of the faculty of SciencesPo’s TADS LLM 2024-2025 in Paris. He has authored several legal works published in Brazil and abroad.
