Richard de Bodo is a trial lawyer who represents leading technology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences companies–as well as other prominent businesses, individuals, and emerging companies–in complex, high stakes intellectual property and commercial disputes. Rich has secured significant victories and multimillion-dollar awards in federal and state courts across the United States, as well as before appellate courts, the International Trade Commission, the U.S. Patent Office, arbitration panels, and other U.S. and foreign tribunals.
Rich has litigated cutting-edge matters under the Hatch-Waxman Act and the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act, along with high-stakes patent, trade secret, inventorship, and licensing disputes involving software, cybersecurity, semiconductors, stem cells, DNA microarrays, peptide therapies, and other advanced technologies.
Besides his intellectual property practice, Rich has extensive experience handling complex business and commercial disputes nationwide, including securities fraud and malpractice cases.
Prior to joining Barton, Rich served as Co-Chair of Hogan Lovells’ U.S. IP Practice, Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Patent Litigation Practice and its Life Sciences Practice, and Chair of Morgan Lewis’s Life Sciences IP Practice.
