Mr. Qianwu Yang is admitted to practice law in China and California, United States. He is one of the very few dual-qualified attorneys licensed in both jurisdictions, with extensive experience representing clients as lead counsel in U.S. ITC Section 337 investigations, U.S. federal intellectual property litigation, major U.S. Amazon intellectual property disputes, and significant cross-border intellectual property litigation in China.
Professional Memberships
As SHM’s founding managing partner, Mr. Yang led SHM Law Firm to become the only law firm from Shenzhen ever selected by the Ministry of Commerce of China in 2021 as one of 15 Chinese law firms on its Trade Barrier Legal Services Panel for 2022-2024 to represent Chinese enterprises in U.S. Section 337 investigations. In 2024, SHM was again selected as the only law firm from Guangdong Province for the Ministry of Commerce Trade Barrier Legal Services Panel for 2025-2027. Recognized for its strong performance in cross-border intellectual property matters, SHM was named by Thomson Reuters ALB as one of 15 Law Firms to Watch in China in 2025 and listed in the Thomson Reuters ALB China Intellectual Property (Patents, Trademarks and Copyright) Law Firm Rankings in 2026.
Since founding SHM in 2021, Mr. Yang has represented clients in China and the United States in significant intellectual property disputes in both jurisdictions, achieving numerous historic results and earning broad recognition from clients, government authorities, and the legal community, including being named a National Foreign-Related Lawyer Talent by the Ministry of Justice of China, a Leading Foreign-Related Lawyer by the Guangdong Lawyers Association, an Outstanding Expert by the China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Protection Center, one of LegalOne’s Blue Ribbon 15 Client-Trusted Lawyers for Chinese Enterprises Going Global, and one of LegalOne’s Blue Ribbon 15 Client-Trusted Foreign-Related Dispute Resolution Lawyers in China. He is also ranked in the Chambers Greater China Region Guide 2026.
Mr. Yang also serves as an expert of the Shenzhen Municipal Intellectual Property Office, an expert advisor to the Nanshan District Government of Shenzhen on governance based on the rule of law, an overseas intellectual property dispute expert of the Shantou Intellectual Property Protection Center, and a director of the Foreign-Related Rule of Law Research Association of the Shenzhen Law Society. Mr. Yang is also the director of the International Trade Law Professional Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and the deputy deirector of the Foreign-Related Intellectual Property Center of the Guangdong Lawyers Association.
Personal
Mr. Yang graduated from Tsinghua University School of Law with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and from the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree. He also holds a B.A. in Economics from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. Mr. Yang is a dedicated amateur athlete and has won second place in butterfly and first place in freestyle swimming at the Shenzhen Lawyers Association sports competition. In the early years of his legal career, Mr. Yang was awarded the title of “Best Debater” in both the Guangdong Lawyers Association Debate Competition and the Shenzhen–Zhuhai Lawyers Association Debate Competition. He also served as a part-time television and radio host in Shenzhen.
