Philippa McAtasney KC is a leading criminal silk. Highly-regarded, she is known for her determination and commitment to hard work.

She is regularly instructed to prosecute and defend in all areas of crime including complex fraud but has a specialism in murder and sexual offences. Recent briefs include multi handed murder cases involving issues of joint enterprise, identification and participation and multi complainant cases involving historic allegations of rape and sexual abuse.

Pippa is very experienced in dealing with young and vulnerable defendants and witnesses requiring sensitive handling.

She has successfully defended in a considerable number of cases including a student charged with rape and sexual assault of two fellow students and has appeared for defendants both young and very old in many cases involving serious sexual allegations and murder cases.

She has acted in very serious cases involving defendants on the autism spectrum and those with complex mental health needs. She appreciates how stressful and traumatic these can be for all involved and has a sympathetic but skilful approach.
