Philip Underwood

Phil has broad experience in corporate and commercial litigation, including shareholder disputes, oppression claims, insolvency proceedings, regulatory matters, and commercial arbitrations. Phil has a deep understanding of the shifting dynamics of specialized industries. He has counselled a variety of clients in the retail, real estate, energy, insurance, financial services, and telecommunications sectors.

Phil has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court and Court of Appeal, the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has been part of the legal teams in some of the largest and most high-profile commercial litigation matters in Canada of the past several years.

Phil previously practised at the New York office of a leading international law firm where he acted on large regulatory investigations, antitrust matters, bankruptcy proceedings, and international commercial arbitrations.
