Senior Lawyer. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1958. Former Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law at both the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Fluminense Federal University Law School (retired). Former Judge of the Brazilian Maritime Court. Founding Member and former President of the Brazilian Association of Maritime Law. Founding Member and Honorary Vice President for Brazil of the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law. Titular Member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI). Served as a member of the Brazilian Diplomatic Delegation at meetings of the IMO Legal Committee in London and Geneva, as well as the International Commission of the Rio Paraguay-Paraná, in São Paulo and Asunción. Lecturer on International Trade, Maritime, Port and Environmental Law. Founder (1964) and Senior Partner at Pedro Calmon Filho & Associados. Appeared before the United States Federal Court, Southern District of New York (2002), and the High Court of Justice, London (2003), acting as an expert in Brazilian Law. Speaker at various courses and universities. Member of the Maritime and Port Law Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB/RJ). Recognised as a reference and top tier in Who’s Who Legal, Chambers and Partners, Best Lawyers, and Legal 500.
