Pamela Niven

Practice Areas

Pamela is head of the Private Client – Asset Protection and Tax team. She has a wealth of experience in all aspects of private client work, having worked in this area for over 26 years.

Pamela has a particular interest in estate planning, with a focus on Inheritance, Income and Capital Gains Taxes and on the use of Wills and Trusts for planning purposes. Pamela especially enjoys working with clients in such a way as to demystify subjects that can appear especially complex to them, helping them to have an understanding of matters such as Potentially Exempt Transfers, Chargeable Lifetime Transfers and Discretionary Trusts.

She is involved in the long term administration of the personal affairs of a number of clients, often assuming the role of ‘trusted advisor’, and has extensive experience of Trust and estate administration, including those with international elements, and of all aspects of the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.

Pamela has been both a tutor and the External Examiner for the University of Strathclyde’s Diploma in Legal Practice Private Client and Advanced Private Client courses and regularly presents to clients and other professionals on a variety of topics.
