Oliver is an experienced advocate who took silk at just eleven years call. He has a broad commercial practice with particular focus on international trade, insurance (in particular, war risk insurance), energy, jurisdiction, and dry-shipping disputes. He has developed focused expertise in the area of anti-suit injunctive relief. His insurance work comprises both marine and non-marine work and his pure commercial work spans a number of different sectors, including up and downstream oil and gas, energy infrastructure projects, renewables and pharmaceuticals. A substantial amount of his cases involves jurisdictional or other conflicts of laws issues.

He has appeared at all levels of the English Court system, including appellate work in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and trials and applications in the Commercial Court.

Oliver also acts in international arbitrations in London and internationally (including the LCIA, LMAA, ICC, SIAC, HKIAC and SCC Rules).
