Practice Areas
Nick essentially has a Silk-level defence practice. Recently, he has defended in cases involving a range of fraud allegations (tax/VAT fraud, excise duty fraud, boiler room fraud), a £54million money laundering case, murder, attempted murder, a gang-related shootings including one involving two well-known rival rappers, large drugs conspiracies, and rape.
Many of his cases involve organised crime groups, and most of them deal with criminal allegations of the most serious nature; he is very experienced in handling serious and complex cases which require analytical and tactical thought.
More often than not he is instructed to lead other junior counsel. Known as being approachable and user-friendly, he is good with clients and persuasive with juries.
He is regularly instructed to represent high profile and high net-worth clients, such as drill and rap artists, sports personalities, and business people. He is often instructed privately in Town and Country Planning Act Enforcement Notice cases, and road traffic cases.
One of the very first-appointed RASSO prosecutors, and once a Grade-4 prosecutor, Nick has prosecuted the most complex and sensitive cases (e.g. the rogue surgeon Ian Paterson who was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment for operating unnecessarily on patients). He no longer prosecutes, but the knowledge gained from prosecuting serious cases stands him in good stead when defending.
