Nick Barraclough

Nick’s practice is in heavyweight general crime, fraud and money laundering, and serious sexual cases. He frequently leads, often against or co-defending with KC’s in complex and serous cases and is very much a jury advocate. He is tactically aware, a strategic thinker, and a team player.

Recently he has successfully defended as leader in cases of conspiracies to murder (client was acquitted after a submission of no case to answer), manslaughter/robbery, a complex VHCC ‘crash for crash’ fraud/tax case (which was stayed for abuse of process), a £54 million money laundering (client acquitted of all but one minor charge), a gangland kidnap/ransom case, gang shooting of a prominent rapper, a conspiracy to shoot a rival gang member, human trafficking and child grooming/rape.

He is currently instructed in cases involving a £32million POCA case, a large-scale importation of cocaine, a boiler-room fraud, money laundering, rogue trader fraud, attempted murder.

As a Grade 4/RASSO prosecutor he undertook complex cases, e.g. the rogue surgeon Ian Paterson sentenced to 20 years for operating unnecessarily on patients. Recently, however, he has only defended.
