Practice Areas
Nicholas Ecimu heads S&L Advocates’ practice in projects and infrastructure, oil and gas and mining, and is an established practitioner in the power sector. He acts on the mandate of the world’s leading development financial institutions, the Government of Uganda, governmental agencies, global infrastructure entities and project sponsors, and his expertise covers all aspects of project development (including large-projects procurement), project finance, public-private partnerships and regulatory compliance.
Transactional highlights include; acting as lead counsel to Sinohydro Corporation Limited, the EPC contractor of the US$ 1.7 billion 600 MW Karuma Hydro Power Project which is currently Uganda’s largest infrastructure project and acting as local counsel to the lenders for the project financing of the 250 MW Bujagali II hydro-power project. In oil and gas, Nicholas represents two international oil and gas operators and has acted as local counsel for a feasibility study into the construction of an oil pipeline in Uganda.
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University.
