Monica Smith

Monica Smith advises organizations, executives, and law firms on crisis communications, litigation PR, reputation management, media relations, executive visibility, and strategic communications. She is particularly known for helping clients navigate high-stakes situations involving cybersecurity incidents, investigations, leadership transitions, workplace issues, operational disruptions, and reputationally sensitive disputes. Monica also counsels clients on thought leadership strategy, stakeholder communications, media training, and long-term brand positioning.

Monica has more than two decades of experience advising organizations, executives, and law firms on strategic communications, crisis management, media relations, and reputation management. She began her career at a global law firm before moving into agency leadership, where she has helped clients navigate high-stakes communications challenges, organizational change, and complex public issues.

Monica founded Integer to provide senior-level strategic counsel grounded in integrity, long-term trust, clarity, and practical communications strategy. Today, she advises clients nationwide on crisis communications, litigation PR, executive visibility, and reputation-related matters.

Monica's professional involvement includes serving on the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Counselors Academy Conference Committee for 2025 and 2026 and previous leadership in the Legal Marketing Association, including as President of the Southeastern Chapter.

Monica regularly develops and contributes thought leadership content focused on crisis communications, litigation PR, reputation management, executive communications, legal industry strategy, and media relations. Her work has supported placements and commentary in publications including ALM’s Law.com, Law360, Law Week Colorado, HR.com, Today’s General Counsel, and Today’s Managing Partner.

In 2025 and 2026, she was appointed to serve on Law360's Editorial Advisory Board for the Legal Industry.

She also frequently speaks to law firms, legal teams, and communications professionals on the convergence of legal strategy, crisis communications, reputation management, and media relations, with a particular focus on the importance of alignment between legal and communications teams in high-stakes situations. In 2024, she was a panelist at DRI’s Appellate Advocacy Seminar’s session on “Managing High-Profile Appellate Litigation.” She is a featured presenter in PRNEWS’ forthcoming Learning Collective, a premium education platform for senior communications and marketing leaders. As part of the program’s Reputation, Risk, & Issues Management master class series, Monica will discuss “When Reputational Crisis Meets Legal: Navigating High-Stakes Communications Without Making Things Worse.”
