Mohamed specializes in local and cross-border banking and finance matters, with specific focus on M&A, investment, private equity, complex financing structures, regulatory, Islamic finance, corporate governance, restructuring and combatting money laundry in financial institutions.
Mohamed Alem is often requested to advise Governments and state-owned enterprises on legislative reforms and regulatory developments as benchmarked to international best practices. He is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences on a multitude of current legal subjects.
In the most recent Legal 500 EMEA 2020, Mohamed Alem retained his long-standing ranking as Leading Individual. He was also ranked as Market Leader in IFLR1000 2020 for the second year in a row.
He holds an LLB from the Lebanese University (1988), a DEA in International Trade from Caen-France University, and an LLM in Comparative Law from McGill University, Institute of Comparative Law – Canada (1991).
