Megan Maitia

Megan Maitia is the managing partner of ruth LLP, a Los Angeles-based boutique litigation firm recognized for high-stakes white-collar, criminal, and government-facing matters. She is particularly sought out for sensitive investigations, serious criminal prosecutions, and parallel civil proceedings requiring strategic judgment, trial readiness, and calm, persuasive advocacy under pressure. Megan represents individuals, executives, founders, and companies in federal and state courts, and is noted for navigating matters that present significant legal, reputational, and personal risk.

Megan's recent experience includes defending a client in a high-profile two-week kidnapping and robbery trial in Los Angeles involving sophisticated crypto currency and money laundering issues, where the jury rejected the most serious enhancements sought by prosecutors; securing favorable plea agreements and sentencings in federal criminal prosecutions; and pre-trial settlements or voluntary dismissals in civil fraud cases. Megan also regularly appears in the Delaware Court of Chancery and is particularly noted for mastering sprawling factual records, confronting late-breaking evidence, and advancing clear, credible positions in matters where the stakes are exceptionally high.

Megan began her career at an international law firm in Los Angeles, where she trained under renowned practitioners in the fields of White-Collar, Investigations, Government Contracts and False Claims Act. After nearly a decade, Megan left big law to launch her boutique practice at what is now ruth LLP. Megan served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable André Birotte Jr., U.S. District Court in the Central District of California, during Judge Birotte’s first year on the bench.
