Career
Mauricio Llamas focuses on regulatory compliance and administrative litigation. Mexico’s regulatory requirements are quickly evolving, and Mauricio is at the forefront of adapting to the new mandates, providing strategic and forward-thinking advice to clients. Mauricio has more than 20 years of experience navigating clients through the administrative requirements for the operation of industrial, services and commercial establishments.
His experience covers the spectrum of the regulatory landscape, from environmental impact, land use, urban development, air emissions, hazardous materials and waste, site remediation, climate change, carbon markets and natural resources matters, to ESG, sanitary regulations, health care and life sciences, international and domestic trade, product liability and consumer protection counselling. He interacts with developers and other legal practices in the feasibility, regulatory planning and implementation of infrastructure, real estate, oil and gas and energy projects, including renewable and conventional generation.
Mauricio heads the Firm’s administrative litigation practice in Mexico and has been asked to intercede in alternative dispute resolution proceedings as an expert witness on Mexican environmental law in front of the ICC. Mauricio is head professor of environmental law at the Universidad Anahuac Law School since 2002 and was academic coordinator of its Master's in Environmental Policy, Management, and Legislation program.
