Matthew Townsend

Matthew is an international arbitration partner based in our Hong Kong office as a foreign lawyer (England & Wales) in the disputes practice.

Matthew provides clients with strategic advice at the outset of a transaction, creative solutions once a dispute arises and vigorous representation in prosecuting or defending claims. His experience spans the full lifecycle of a dispute.

Matthew’s clients come from a number of sectors, including energy (e.g. renewables, oil and gas), corporate and private equity, infrastructure, construction and technology. They include public and private companies, funds, high-net-worth individuals and developers.

Matthew’s international arbitration experience spans the major jurisdictions, institutions and arbitration rules. He has worked on a number of “industry first” international arbitration matters in Asia and routinely conducts written and oral advocacy.
