Career

Matt has a national practice focused on real estate, finance, and business transactions. He represents Alabama clients in transactions inside and outside of Alabama. He also provides counsel to out-of-state clients on their investments in Alabama. Matt is a dealmaker who seeks to advocate for his client’s position effectively and efficiently and quickly settle disagreements among the parties that inevitably arise.

Matt’s real estate experience includes purchases, sales, developments, and the associated financing. He has served as counsel to clients in multi-state portfolio transactions as buyer counsel and seller counsel. In his lending practice, Matt has experience with loans secured by real estate and asset-based security and regularly provides local counsel opinions. In his corporate practice, Matt provides advice on corporate governance and transactional matters.

On behalf of the firm, Matt has served as the firm’s designated Emerging Leader for Meritas, a global affiliation of law firms, and as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

In a previous life, Matt played junior college baseball and thought he was headed to the big leagues. In his current life, Matt and his wife try to keep up with their four young children, and he is an aspiring average golfer.
