Mathilde Merckx specialises in life sciences and healthcare law, with particular expertise in product liability and regulatory matters. She advises and represents life sciences companies, entrepreneurs (including SMEs and start-ups), and professionals : pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers and distributors of medical devices, cosmetics, and food supplements, insurers, as well as medical facilities and organisations—on matters of both national and international scope.

She supports and represents her clients across all aspects of regulated sectors, including R&D, post-authorisation safety and efficacy studies, market access, promotion and communication, e-health, civil and criminal liability, and issues of unfair competition among healthcare stakeholders.

Career

After starting out in 2012 as a lawyer in Life sciences and healthcare Law, Mathilde practised in the fields of industrial risks, insurance law and liability law.

She then joined and spent 3 years within the international legal department of a major pharmaceutical group, where she specialised in vigilance, risk and crisis management and products safety at global level.

Mathilde resumed private practice in 2021 and joined Alchimie Avocats as a partner in January 2023 to develop the Life sciences and Healthcare activity.

She has been co-Chair of the Life sciences & Healthcare Committee within the European Law Firm network, since January 2025.
