Mathew is a Partner in the firm's Jersey Litigation practice, and part of the Mourant specialist financial services and regulatory team.
His work includes advising on compliance with the regulatory laws, anti-money laundering regime, sanctions, information requests and data protection. He is particularly experienced in advising on cases where potential breaches of requirements have been identified, and in advising on investigations, remediation and enforcement.
In addition, Mathew has experience advising financial institutions on a wide range of high-profile multi-jurisdictional banking, corporate, funds, trust and property disputes.
Mathew is also experienced in dealing with contentious employment matters and insolvency issues. In recent years, he's acted in a number of leading cases on challenges to TIEA notices and advised on mis-selling claims against banking institutions.
Mathew is part of a team of specialists advising businesses on data protection matters including working with clients to ensure that their policies, procedures and third-party contracts can demonstrate compliance with data protection legislation, drafting information notices to meet the required standards of transparency and advising on the legality of international transfers of personal data.
