María Teresa specializes in Shipping and Ship Finance Law, Commercial Law and Corporate Law. With an outstanding trajectory of more than 30 years, she is well recognized within the Maritime industry. She has been advising the top ship owning companies, ship managers, banks and financial institutions around the world, handling their maritime and corporate interests.

Panama Bar Association (Director 2005-2007); Panama Maritime Law Association (Secretary 1993-1994); Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) – Panama Chapter; Listed as leading Individual in Shipping Law by Chambers Latin America.

She was member of the Drafting Commission of Law 57, August 6th, 2008, on Panama Merchant Marine.

Author of "The Patria Potestad Under Panamanian Civil Law", Thesis, 1986; "The notice of Defect under the U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, The Laws of the United States and the Latin American Countries", 1987. Co- author of the Chambers Global Practice Guide for Shipping Law – Panama Chapter, since 2018.
