Career

Maria Inês Assis  is a Professional Partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2019, working on international tax matters. She has a vast experience advising individuals, family groups, entrepreneurs, family offices, trustees and private banks on private wealth management, protection and preservation, ensuring the generational transfer of family assets in a tax-efficient manner.

Maria also advises clients on relocations to Portugal, assisting clients identifying how to structure their wealth, including real estate investments, as well as how best to manage their affairs in terms of wealth preservation and tax planning.

She also particularly active on tax matters related to foreign investments in Portugal as well as Portuguese investments abroad (inbound and outbound international tax structuring operations). Maria has also worked in reorganizations and mergers and acquisitions, debt work-out operations and in real estate investments, advising on conventional tax issues arising from those operations.
