Lawyer graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, specializing in Labor Law and Social Security from Universidad Sergio Arboleda, with a Master's in Law with an emphasis on Labor Law from Georgetown University, a diploma in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution in Organizations from Harvard University, and a certificate in Business Consulting from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

A regular speaker at labor and employment congresses and forums, she taught employment law as an associate professor in the undergraduate program at the Business School of Universidad Javeriana, in the postgraduate program at Universidad Sergio Arbolenda, in the Update Seminar at Universidad de los Andes, and the Business Training Programs of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce.
