Marcos Lobo de Freitas Levy has more than forty-five years of experience working as a lawyer, both in-house and as a legal consultant. He is the author of several articles on Life Sciences Regulatory, Business Ethics, Compliance and, Intellectual Property.

He is a former Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs of MSD Brazil (Merck & Co, Inc.), Legal Director and Associate General Counsel of Pharmacia Brazil (Pfizer), and Institutional Relations Director of Boehringer Ingelheim Brazil.

He is a Member of the Latin America Association of Business Ethics and Economics (ALENE), having been the entity’s Vice-President from 2001 to 2003, and President from 2003 to 2005. He was elected Vice-President of ALENE again in 2022. He was a member of the Ethics Committee of Febrafarma in 2002.

From 2007 to 2011 he was a teacher of “Legislation and Ethics” in the Pharmaceutical Engineering Course, at Instituto Racine in Sao Paulo.

Mr. Levy has been recognized as a legal leading practitioner in the area of Life Sciences by “Who is Who Legal”, “Chambers & Partners Expert Guides”, “Global Health & Pharma”, “Leaders League” and “Best Lawyers in Brazil”®. In 2019 he was recognized by BestLawyers.com as “Lawyer of the Year” in Brazil in the Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice.

Mr. Levy is the Co-Author of the article “The Requirement for the Complete Manufacturing of the Object of a Patent in the national Territory”, published in the the book “O Novo Direito Internacional – Estudos em Homenagem a Erik Jayme” (Editora Revova 2005). He is also one of the Co-Authors of the “International Comparative Legal Guide on Pharmaceutical Advertising” (from 2015 to 2020) and of the Brazil Chapter of the “Global Chambers Practice Guide in Life Sciences”, published in 2018. He also co-authored the “Chambers Global Practice Guides – Pharmaceutical Advertising” in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
