Data Protection, Technology and Antitrust
As advisor and Chief of Staff to the president of CADE from 2015 until 2016, Marcela acquired a wide breadth of knowledge in antitrust matters, as well as in the composition and organization of the Brazilian System for Competition Defence. She was directly involved in the agenda that led to the many guidelines CADE issued in the past years – leniency, compliance, settlements, and the horizonal mergers guidelines. Marcela joined VMCA when the firm was launched, in January 2017, becoming the partner responsible for technology and data privacy matters, as her academic path focuses on internet and technology – currently, she directly advises clients such as Facebook, Ambev, Baxter, Braskem, among others. In January 2019, Marcela was appointed head of the firm’s recently launched Data Privacy and Technology practice.
