Career
A lawyers' lawyer, Dato’ Malik Imtiaz Sarwar is one of Malaysia's leading advocates.
With more than 28 years experience as a litigator and reported decisions in a diverse range of practice areas to his credit, he has firmly established himself as a point of reference in dispute resolution. Regularly consulted and briefed as counsel in high value and complex litigation in civil, commercial, administrative and constitutional law matters, he is a familiar presence in the appellate courts, the High Court and the arbitration circuit. His expertise was acknowledged by the Kuching High Court in Re Malik Imtiaz Ahmed bin Ghulam Sarwar [2020] 8 MLJ 413.
He has served as a member of the Bar Council, Malaysia and has been a member of the Penang Pardons Board since 2009.

Dato’ Malik Imtiaz is an opinion leader on matters of constitutional and human rights law as well as the Rule of Law in general and has written extensively in those fields. He most recently contributed an article entitled ‘Section 96 of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964’ to the Journal of the Malaysian Judiciary which was published in July 2018. On the invitation of the editorial board of the IIUM Law Majalla, he also contributed an article entitled ‘A Question of Interpretation’ to the first student-run law journal in Malaysia.
