Career
Ms Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel is a Polish solicitor and Doctor of Law. Prior to co-founding Hansberry Tomkiel in 2014, she worked at the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (the “Authority”). From 2008-2014, she served as the Authority’s Chairman. Previously, she served as a Vice-Chairman and as the Head of the Legal Department. As the Chairman of the Authority, she managed an organization of over 460 employees, which included nine regional offices throughout Poland. Her duties as Chairman included the protection and enforcement of the EU and Polish competition laws. During her tenure as Chairman, her office issued over 4,600 decisions.
She brings exceptional experience to Hansberry Tomkiel’s clients subject to investigations by the Authority and the European Commission as well as other Member States’ Competition Authorities. As a practitioner, she has excelled. Her clients are diverse and come from the energy, media, telecommunications, publishing and manufacturing sectors. Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel is well versed in new technologies and how to advise clients on the intersection of these industries with the competition and consumer protection laws. She has overlooked a number of the Firm’s litigation cases, including a plaintiff private damage action case.
She is recognized and valued for providing the Firm’s clients with balanced and excellent representation.
During this ranking period, she took part in the following events:
• Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel was invited to a meeting with the members of the Entrepreneurship Council at the President of the Republic of Poland. During this meeting, she presented the "President of UOKiK as a competition protection authority - current status and planned changes" and took part in the discussion.
• Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel joined the jury of the competition for the best master’s theses organized annually by the President of the Polish Competition Authority (UOKiK)..
• Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel gave a presentation on "Inspections and searches of UOKiK - the perspective of entrepreneurs" as part of the Congress for the Protection of Classified, Business and Personal Data in Rynia (Poland)
• Announcement that Ms Krasnodębska - Tomkiel continues to be a mentor of the second edition of "Leading Lawyer" program for lawyers organized by the EY Academy of Business Polska.
• Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel took part in the panel on greenwashing in the real estate market as part of the Real Estate Market Forum in Sopot.
• Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel took part in workshops for entrepreneurs organized by MMC Polska with a presentation on "Review of recent decisions, proceedings and penalties of the President of UOKiK".
• Ms Krasnodębska-Tomkiel presented the practical aspects of changes in Polish competition law (how to limit legal risks in the scope of liability and penalties for companies, capital groups and managers) as part of the Compliance Officer Academy organized by Wolters Kluwer
