She brings huge expertise in clinical negligence, having joined from the leading law firm in the conduct of mesh litigation cases, where she acted as national co-ordinator for mesh claims as well as personally leading on a number of high profile cases.

Madeleine manages a diverse portfolio of high-value clinical negligence claims, with a focus on childbirth injuries, brain injuries (such as cerebral palsy), amputations, orthopaedic injuries, and cauda equina syndrome. Additionally, she advocates on behalf of cancer and stroke victims who have suffered from delayed diagnoses or misdiagnoses, and represents families who have tragically lost loved ones due to medical negligence.

Her wealth of experience and dedication make her a trusted and compassionate legal advocate for those impacted by clinical errors.

Career

Beginning her career in 1998 as a paralegal and trainee solicitor working on clinical negligence and personal injury claims, Madeleine qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and has specialised solely in clinical negligence since 2009.

Professional Memberships

Personal

Whether supervising junior executives and solicitors, or working on her own caseload, Madeleine’s tenacious investigation of all cases ensures that clients who have suffered a life-altering injury receive maximum compensation.

Madeleine also focuses on obtaining interim payments where applicable, so that the client can obtain specialist rehabilitation or accommodation as quickly as possible.

The most rewarding aspect of her work is being able to support clients during what can be an extremely difficult and stressful time in their lives, helping them to feel that there’s someone on their side, fighting their corner.

A mum of two, Madeleine is a keen sea rower and has participated in the World Gig Rowing Championships in the Isles of Scilly a number of times. She supports and fundraises for Cerebral Palsy Plus and is a former Chair and Trustee of the charity.

Work Highlights

Supervision of more than 100 former patients of a surgeon who was alleged to have performed surgical procedures that left individuals in excruciating pain, as well as suffering from medical complications.

Represented a client who as a result of the hospital’s negligence suffered cerebral palsy. Madeleine was instrumental in obtaining substantial interim payments totalling £800,000 for the purchase of single storey accommodation adapted to the child’s needs.

Secured a six-figure settlement at a joint settlement meeting for a client who had suffered a below knee amputation. The hospital concerned admitted it was at fault as it failed to ensure systems were in place to prevent pressure sores.

Represented a client who had suffered a fracture of the radial bone in the right wrist, whose surgeon used a locking plate and screws rather than the K wire to which she had consented, which caused nerve damage to the wrist. The patient suffered long term injuries after the surgery and a settlement of £145,000 was secured.

Currently working alongside a colleague on behalf of a client who sustained a brain injury during birth and will require lifelong care for cerebral palsy. Substantial interim payments have been obtained, a house has been purchased and is in the process of being adapted so that the client and her mother can live in suitable accommodation that will enable her to receive the care and rehabilitation she needs.
