Luís Felipe Pellon

Insurance and Reinsurance Law, Corporate and Regulatory Law, Arbitration and Civil Liability

Since the beginning of his professional career, he has worked in the areas of insurance, reinsurance, corporate law and civil liability. He has held leading positions in the legal departments of large insurance companies, as well as in public sector entities such as the Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) and the IRB (the institute that exercised the reinsurance monopoly in Brazil).

The British publication Monthly Lawyers included him in its 2012 list of the "Top 100 leading lawyers in the world". In 2013 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Judicial Merit by the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in the rank of Commander, for his contribution to the legal sciences.

He has taught at the National School of Private Insurance (FUNENSEG), the Cândido Mendes University and the Institute of Administration and Management of the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-Rio). He has written numerous articles on insurance and reinsurance law, published in magazines and books specializing in these areas in Brazil and other countries.

Luís Felipe Pellon lived in Germany from March 1983 to April 1987, where he carried out research on insurance and reinsurance at the University of Hamburg and on private law at the Max Planck Institute.

He is the author of a book on private insurance supervision ("Private insurance supervision in the EEC and Brazil: a comparative study.” Rio de Janeiro, FUNENSEG, 1992, 304 pages) and a monograph in German entitled "Einfuhrung in die Privatversicherung in Brasilien" ("Introduction to Private Insurance in Brazil" - published by the journal "Zeitschrift fur Verischerungswesen" (issues 10, 11, 12 and 13, in 1986).
