Louis Degos is Managing Partner of K&L Gates in Paris and heads the Litigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration practice. Alongside his well-known practice as a lawyer, he is also frequently appointed as an arbitrator or a mediator. In this respect he has participated in more than two hundred arbitrations as Counsel or Arbitrator (President of Arbitral Tribunal, co-arbitrator or sole arbitrator), in ad-hoc arbitrations or in accordance with arbitration rules (ICC, CMAP, AFA, UNCITRAL, Swiss Rules of International Arbitration, etc). For nearly 25 years, he has been frequently appointed as a mediator in domestic and international disputes. He also acts as counsel in alternative dispute resolution procedures. He regularly advises arbitration and mediation centers or arbitrators and mediators.
He holds a national certificate of specialization in arbitration law and is accredited by the French National Center for Mediation of Lawyers to practice as a mediator.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the French Arbitration Committee and is also a member of other institutions (French Arbitration Association, Swiss Arbitration Association, Paris The Home of International Arbitration, LCIA ...).
Louis Degos is also a lecturer at the university and in arbitration centers’ trainings or continuous education programs for lawyers and he regularly speaks at seminars and conferences on arbitration, mediation, ADR, but also on legal innovations and professional practice.
Louis Degos is a member of the French delegation of the Council of European Bars (CCBE). He was a member of the Conseil National des Barreaux (CNB) from 2015 to 2020 and previously a member of the Conseil de l'Ordre (2012-2014). He teaches at the CMAP (Paris Mediation and Arbitration Centre) and is a frequent speaker at conferences on arbitration and mediation.
Louis Degos joined K&L Gates LLP in 2009, he was before partner in a British global law firm and partner in a litigation and arbitration French law firm.
