Kwok Tang

Kwok is a market-leading TMT lawyer who uses his deep sector knowledge and over two decades of experience to help his clients on their most significant matters. He also co-leads our Global TMT Sector team. Kwok advises on a broad range of commercial transactions, including IT contracts such as cloud services contracts, outsourcings and procurements, telecommunication agreements, media agreements, joint ventures and alliance arrangements. Kwok’s clients appreciate his clear thinking and his pragmatic approach to helping them achieve their commercial objectives. Kwok also assists his clients navigate an increasingly dynamic and complex regulatory landscape, finding the most practical and commercial solutions available to challenging matters, balancing compliance requirements with commercial, operational and technical drivers. The regulations he advises on typically fall into one of three categories: Data focused (e.g. privacy, critical infrastructure, cyber security) TMT sector focused (e.g. telecommunications, broadcasting, gaming and wagering) or consumer protection focused (e.g. online harm regulations, unfair contract terms regime). In his role as the Global TMT Sector co-lead, Kwok is responsible for leading the firm’s strategy in the TMT sector, with a particular focus on the APAC region, and driving the firm’s thought leadership on important developments impacting the sector including emerging technologies such as drones, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI), immersive technology, digital assets and quantum computing. Originally from the UK, Kwok is qualified in both England & Wales and in New South Wales, Australia. He joined the firm in 2011 (prior to the firm merger) and became a partner in 2019.
