Practice Areas
Kris Winemiller is a tenacious litigator with the tremendous advantage of being trusted by her adversaries.
Known as a perceptive listener and a persuasive writer, she understands intuitively how to translate unfamiliar concepts and perspectives to a wider audience. She has an outstanding reputation for professionalism with Oregon judges.
Many of her clients face high profile accusations - often with significant public policy questions or political tensions in play. In her third year of practice, she won a death penalty acquittal and, immediately afterward, tackled Oregon’s first DNA prosecution. A decade into practice, she challenged racial profiling in a federal trial and won a rare judicial award of attorney fees to accompany the winning jury verdict. She then represented the lead defendant in the Christian Patriot Association tax prosecution, followed by the lead defendant in Portland Seven sedition case, filing in the latter the first federal challenge to Patriot Act expansions of domestic surveillance.
Now closing out her third decade in practice, she has well-honed skills for managing complex litigation and identifying creative, efficient resolutions. She practices in the West Coast / Pacific region and internationally. An energetic trouble-shooter by nature, she enjoys unwinding complicated fact patterns to solve problems for high profile individuals and for businesses. Her focus includes health care and her clients include doctors, lawyers, accountants or other professionals facing threat of professional censure. In addition to managing regulatory and criminal investigations of corporate activity, for key individuals or the company, she conducts internal investigations and enjoys serving as pool counsel.
Perception, collaboration and drive are the keys to her success.
