Career
Kenneth Muhangi is the TMT & IP practice partner at KTA Advocates. He is a renowned advocate, author, and legal trainer specializing in intellectual property (IP) and technology law, particularly digital trade, fintech, data protection, and emerging technologies like AI, drones, and IoT. His expertise is further bolstered by an LLM in International Commercial Law from the University of South Wales, and extensive experience representing governments, international entities, and private clients.
Kenneth's passion for IP and technology extends beyond legal counsel. He actively shapes policy and fosters innovation. He played a key role in drafting Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, advises governments on ICT integration and AI policy, and chairs key industry committees such as the Committee on Management of intellectual property assets under the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development, the Uganda Law Society and East Africa Law Society ICT clusters. His commitment is recognized by the World Economic Forum and World Bank, with whom he collaborates on groundbreaking initiatives like the African Drone Forum.
Kenneth's exceptional work has garnered prestigious awards, including "Africa's Male Partner of the Year" and "Leading IP Lawyer" by the World Trademark Review Guide. He is also featured in Uganda's Top 40 Under 40, reflecting his dedication to excellence and impact.
Beyond legal practice, Kenneth actively shares his knowledge by lecturing at renowned universities such as Uganda Christian University and conducting specialized training programs on topics like data protection, cybersecurity and blockchain technology.
