Practice Areas

Ms. Levine began her legal career focusing on complex commercial cases, primarily involving disputes between members of close corporations, LLCs and partnerships. As her career progressed, she began representing spouses in complex family law cases. This was a natural progression given that both areas of practice – disputes between business partners and spouses – frequently involve valuing non-public companies and allocating assets, either partnership assets or the assets of the marital estate. Presently, most of her practice is devoted to family law. Ms. Levine has significant trial experience. She has tried numerous family law matters as well as commercial disputes in Illinois and elsewhere, handling both jury and bench trials. She brings to family law cases a business litigator’s perspective, with the capacity to understand complex financial assets and estate structures. Additionally, Ms. Levine has a masters degree in social work from the University of Chicago. Her pre-law experience as a clinical social worker focusing on crisis intervention has been key in her ability to address the emotional strains of divorce as well as handling child custody disputes. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial lawyers and has been an adjunct professor in trial advocacy at Northwestern Pritzker School of law.
