Career

Juan Pablo holds a PhD in Law from the University of Barcelona, which

was awarded in 1997 for his thesis on summary debt collection actions.

He was guided in this task by Prof. Dr Manuel Serra Domínguez and was

unanimously awarded Cum Laude, the highest possible distinction, for

on this type of procedure in both Spain and several Latin American countries,

such as Colombia.

During his extensive career at prestigious law firms such as Garrigues,

he has been involved in the resolution of countless legal disputes, actively

defending the interests of companies operating in fields such as the

sports, pharmaceutical, chemical, agri-food, real estate and automobile

sectors.

Juan Pablo is a senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona and a visiting

professor at Paris Dauphine University. He has also published many articles on legal theory in both

Europe and Latin America, and he frequently speaks at colloquia and

takes part in EU-funded research projects.

In addition, Juan Pablo acts as arbitrator and mediator in renowned

Spanish and international institutions, such as the International Court of

Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Bogotá

Chamber of Commerce (CCB), the London Court of International Arbitration

(LCIA) and the Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

He is also the international representative of the Barcelona Bar Association

(ICAB) in Toulouse, a member of the Legal Advisory Committee of

the Catalan employers’ association Foment del Treball and a former
