Mr. Abreu is a Founding Partner and Head of the firm’s Wealth and Tax Advisory group, with a focus on wealth and estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and families. He has extensive experience in structuring cross-border assets, multi-generational succession strategies, offshore vehicles and private foundations, as well as advising on the tax aspects of domestic and international investments.

Farroco Abreu firm provides end-to-end advice, supporting clients throughout the entire lifecycle of their structures — from planning and implementation to tax reporting and compliance, as well as in pre-litigation matters and complex tax controversies before administrative and judicial courts.

Career

With nearly 25 years of experience in tax law, Mr. Abreu leads the firm’s Wealth Management and Estate Planning practice and advises also on corporate tax matters, including domestic and cross-border transactions, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, banking and finance, and foreign investment. A significant part of his practice involves advising both private clients and their family-owned businesses, enabling an integrated approach that enhances efficiency and delivers comprehensive solutions for succession, governance, and tax matters.

His practice spans the full tax cycle, including strategic planning, implementation of structures, ongoing reporting obligations, and the management of pre-litigation and litigation matters, ensuring consistency and alignment across all stages.

He previously served as a tax judge at the Federal Administrative Council of Tax Appeals (CARF) in Brasília, an experience that provides him with a unique perspective on tax disputes and strengthens his ability to anticipate and resolve complex controversies.

Mr. Abreu holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center (USA) and a Master’s degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). Over the course of his career, he has worked in the tax departments of leading law firms before co-founding his current firm.
