Jorge Bofill focuses on high-stakes dispute resolution, with a practice spanning white-collar crime, complex commercial and civil litigation, domestic and international arbitration, corporate internal investigations, and public law disputes with significant regulatory or institutional dimensions. His experience is especially notable in matters where criminal, civil, administrative and reputational risks intersect, requiring coordinated strategy across multiple proceedings and forums. He is also regularly involved in disputes arising from infrastructure, natural resources, capital markets, corporate governance and highly sensitive shareholder or control conflicts.
Career
orge Bofill is one of Chile’s most prominent litigators and dispute strategists. Before co-founding Bofill y Ramos Abogados in 2026, he was founding name partner at Bofill Escobar Silva Abogados. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Grasty Quintana Majlis & Cía. and at Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana. Alongside his private practice, he taught at the University of Chile School of Law between 1998 and 2019 and served on the Board of the Chilean Bar Association between 2008 and 2020. He has also played an active role in major law-reform processes in Chile, including the criminal procedure reform, the debate on Law No. 20,393 on corporate criminal liability, and the drafting of a new Criminal Code, which he coordinated in 2013 and 2018. In 2015, he was appointed by the UN Secretary-General as the only Latin American member of the six-person panel charged with reviewing the UN internal justice system. He holds a law degree from Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and a Doctor of Law degree from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Work Highlights
Jorge Bofill has led some of the most visible and consequential disputes in Chile in recent decades, combining courtroom advocacy with broader strategic management of business-critical conflicts. Recent highlights include the defence of Australis Seafoods and related entities in the multi-jurisdictional fallout from the Joyvio acquisition, including criminal proceedings and a major civil damages action in Chile; the representation of Julio Ponce in the long-running “Cascadas” litigation, including a successful Supreme Court outcome and the dismissal at first instance of a Treasury collection claim; and the firm’s role for Camanchaca in a landmark damages action against the Chilean State concerning the new fishing quota legislation. He has also led significant matters involving public contracts and infrastructure disputes, such as Constructora Valko, and major criminal/environmental defence work for Minera Candelaria and Compañía Contractual Minera Ojos del Salado/Lundin Mining.
