Jonathan Peacock KC has a broad tax practice, advising corporate and individual taxpayers. He is a leading advocate in the tax field and regularly appears in the appellate courts in the most significant tax cases. He has advised on all UK taxes and in relation to many tax issues in jurisdictions in West and East Africa, Central Asia, Hong Kong, Singapore, North America and Europe.

Jonathan’s recent focus has been on

- International and cross-border issues (in particular transfer pricing/DPT, profit attribution, entity classification and double tax relief treaties). He has been instructed in tax related arbitrations and as an advocate, adviser and expert witness in overseas litigation.

- Energy and the extractive industries – Jonathan’s experience relates to oil and gas in the UK North Sea and also covers green energy sources. Principal areas of interest are the North Sea fiscal regime, both inside and outside the ‘ring fence’, the tax consequences of decommissioning and capital allowances. Jonathan also has experience of advising on non-UK energy and mining assets in other parts of the world.

- Sports tax matters – Jonathan has broad expertise, both as adviser and advocate, in relation to sport governing bodies, professional and amateur clubs, sponsorship, stadium developments, club financing, player remuneration, agent issues and image rights.

- Financial institutions and financial services – Jonathan has over 30 years’ experience of advising (and litigating) in relation to the full range of financial transactions and he has broad experience of asset management taxation.
