Jonathan Lewis provides New York law and English law advice to clients in a wide range of corporate and financial transactions, including public and private offerings of equity and debt securities (with a particular focus on high yield debt, SEC-registered offerings and EMTN programmes), liability management transactions, restructurings, cross-border financings, mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments.

Recognized as a leading international capital markets lawyer in Brazil, Jonathan has extensive experience representing issuers, investment banks, sponsors and selling shareholders on some of the most significant and innovative transactions in the region. Noted as being “one of the best American lawyers here in Brazil” by Chambers Global, Jonathan also regularly advises clients on corporate governance, securities disclosure and regulatory compliance, to provide advice across all stages of the corporate life cycle.

Jonathan has broad experience with complex capital structures and debt restructurings, as well as advising clients on corporate structuring and preparing clients to become first time issuers in the capital markets. Jonathan advises clients across a range of industries, including banking, financial services, private capital, transportation, retail, industrials and energy and natural resources.

Permanently based in Brazil since 2016, Jonathan’s career spans more than 15 years and has a strong emerging markets focus. He has also practiced in New York, London, Dubai, Moscow, Hong Kong and Singapore.
