John Yong Ren

John Yong REN is the founder and managing partner of T&D Associates, a boutique law firm focusing on China anti-trust law and anti-dumping law based in Beijing, China.

John started his career as a certified lawyer in 1988. In 2003, he founded the first and biggest antitrust team in China and has been providing extensive legal services in antitrust to multinationals and Chinese companies in diverse industries since then, including merger filing, monopoly agreement investigation, abuse of dominance investigation, anti-trust litigation, monitoring trustee, anti-trust regulatory compliance, etc.

By leveraging the rich experience accumulated over the past years, he represented multinationals and Chinese companies or served as trustees in over 500 merger filings, including 31 conditionally-approved cases, and successfully handled dozens of high-profile antitrust investigations in China since 2008.

John has been awarded by Chambers and Legal 500 as “Band 1 practitioner”/ “Leading Individual” in China anti-trust area for multiple times, and the antitrust team of T&D led by him has also been recognized by Chambers for 15 times as “Band 1 Chinese Law Firm in Competition/Antitrust” since the award started in 2010.

John is also committed to advancing the development of AML. Since 2003, T&D and the Competition Law Center of UIBE have jointly organized 31 antitrust law seminars. Participants included senior officials from the National People's Congress, the State Council, China competition regulators, courts, antitrust enforcement agencies in other countries (DOJ/FTC, EC), as well as top antitrust scholars, experts, and multinational companies.
