Career

Joe represents clients in complex commercial litigation both domestically and internationally. Among his clients, Joe has represented one of the world’s leading auction houses for over 15 years in a wide array of art-related matters, including issues of ownership and authenticity, claims of art fraud, UCC compliance, consignment rights and lending transactions. Joe has also counseled a foreign state-owned gallery for over 9 years on provenance issues concerning antiquities. His practice includes representing collectors in cases involving Nazi-looted art and the sale of fakes and forgeries, including his representation of a victim of one of the largest art fraud scandals in recent years. In addition to courtroom battles, Joe also advises corporate clients on ways to manage and control litigation risks, including oversight of internal investigations. Joe is a frequent contributor to internal and external publications, including speaking engagements and podcasts.
