Career

Trained at Ince & Co in 2006 and qualified into the ship finance team in 2008. Moved to Watson, Farley & Williams in 2012 and then Stephenson Harwood in 2014, all within the ship finance team. Rejoined Ince & Co in 2018 as partner, specialising in structured asset finance, in particular sale and leaseback structures. Then moved to Hill Dickinson with the entire Ince & Co non-contentious team in 2023 following the demise of Ince & Co.

I was appointed secretary of the Hong Kong Triathlon Association in 2010 and my term was 12 months.

I qualified as a notary public in Hong Kong in 2020 and became Council member of the Hong Kong Notaries Society in 2025.

Avid triathlete, competed in many Ironman 70.3 races and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship 2024 that took place in Taupo, New Zealand in December 2024.

Work Highlights

• Acting AVIC International Leasing Co., Limited in a USD52 million sale and leaseback transaction involving two (2) bulk carriers named m.vs. “Nord Corona” and “Furious” with Swiss Shipping Corp. The usual security package was included customary for a transaction of this type, including a share charge, charterer’s assignment of insurance and earnings, and an account charge. We also acted as the escrow agent for one of the vessels.

• Acting for Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (“BCLC”) in a USD136 million sale and leaseback transaction involving 79,503 containers with COSCO SHIPPING Development (Hong Kong) Co., Limited. Florens International Limited acted as standby charterer in the transaction.

• Acting for BCLC in the sale and leaseback of three (3) newbuilding 200,000m3 LNG carriers with Dynagas Ltd. This is a pre-delivery financing transaction with an aggregate loan amount of USD619 million.

• Acting for BCLC in a two-tier sale and leaseback transaction involving eight (8) dry bulk carriers with Huayang Maritime Centre (“Huayang”) as charterers and Tianyuan Logistics Shipping as sub-charterers. The transaction involved an aggregate loan amount of USD120 million and the usual security package customary for a transaction of this type was included, including without limitation charterer’s assignments and sub-charterer’s assignments.

• Acting for SPDB Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (“SPDBFL”) in a USD59.2 million sale and leaseback transaction with Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited (“Wah Kwong”) involving two (2) bulk carriers currently being constructed at New Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.. The usual security package was customary for a transaction of this type, including a pre-delivery security assignment, share charge, charterer’s assignment, and an account charge.

• Acting for BCLC on the sale and leaseback of 13 tankers with a renowned Greek shipowner. The aggregate loan amount exceeds US$260 million.

• Acting for CMB Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (“CMBL”) on the sale and leaseback of 3 bulk carriers with another top tier Greek shipowner in 2018. We were subsequently instructed to be the leading counsel again on the sale and leaseback of another 5 bulk carriers between the same parties in 2019.
